Tips on What to Expect During an Emergency Dental Visit

When you call with a dental emergency, the last thing you want is more uncertainty. Here's exactly what happens when you come in to Magnolia Family Dentistry for an emergency appointment.

When You Call

Our team will ask about your symptoms, assess urgency, and get you scheduled as quickly as possible — typically the same day. If your situation sounds severe (significant swelling, breathing difficulty), we'll direct you to the emergency room.

When You Arrive

We'll get you into a treatment room promptly. We know you're in pain, and we don't make you wait in the lobby any longer than necessary. A brief intake covers your medical history and current symptoms.

Diagnosis

Dr. Burton will perform a focused examination of the affected area, which typically includes a limited exam and targeted X-rays (our emergency visit fee covers this). The goal is to identify the source of your pain and any immediate threats.

Treatment Options

Depending on findings, same-day treatment may include:

  • Medication for infection or pain management
  • Temporary restoration for a broken tooth
  • Extraction if the tooth cannot be saved
  • Root canal initiation for an abscess
  • Re-cementation of a lost crown

After Your Visit

We'll give you detailed aftercare instructions and schedule any follow-up appointments needed to complete treatment. You'll leave with a clear plan and — most importantly — pain relief.

Emergency visit: $79 for a limited exam and X-rays. Call (512) 991-3219.
