How Do All-on-4 Implants Work?

Like a traditional dental implant procedure, All-on-4 involves surgically placing implant posts into the jaw so that they can act as artificial tooth roots. However, All-on-4 utilizes four posts that are inserted in very specific parts of the jawbone at carefully chosen angles. In particular, the posterior implants are placed at a 45-degree angle, which allows them to join with the parts of the jaw where more bone is present.
The implant posts will eventually be used to secure a full denture. You’ll be able to enjoy the benefits of a full set of replacement teeth that don’t slip out of place at awkward moments.
Am I a Candidate for All-on-4 Implants?

All-on-4 is worth considering if you have lost most or all of the teeth in your upper or lower jaw. To qualify, you must have good overall oral health; issues such as gum disease must be treated before you can move forward with the All-on-4 process.
Thanks to the way the implant posts are placed, All-on-4 doesn’t require as much bone density as a traditional dental implant procedure. This makes it more likely that you’ll be able to have the treatment performed without the need for bone grafting.
Benefits of All-on-4 Implants

One of the advantages of All-on-4 is that your new smile will be easy to take care of; your prosthesis will be fixed to the implant posts at all times, so you can simply brush it like you would your natural teeth. Furthermore, the implant posts will help you maintain a strong, healthy jaw by preventing bone loss. And of course, you’ll be able to enjoy all kinds of foods thanks to the chewing power provided by your implant posts.
All-On-4 vs. Traditional Implants

Even though All-on-4 is similar to traditional dental implant placement, there are a number of differences worth noting:
- All-on-4 lets you replace an entire row of teeth with just four implant posts, which is half the number that could potentially be needed with traditional implant placement.
- All-on-4 can often speed up your treatment timeline by making bone grafting unnecessary.
- All-on-4 can sometimes allow you to receive a fully personalized denture on the same day as your implant surgery.
