As a result, she has advanced training in everything from dental implant placement to Invisalign.

In her free time, Dr. Burton enjoys spending time with her husband, Gregory, and their two dogs, Woodford and Weller. When she isn’t with them, she enjoys painting, crafting, hiking, and putting together jigsaw puzzles!

I’m so happy we found this little dentist office. The staff was so friendly and helpful with my questions about my insurance. They did a great job with my kids, and I’ll be going back soon for my appointment.

What Level of Education is Required to Be a Dentist?

Every dentist in the United States must have either a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or a Doctor of Dental Sciences (DDS) from one of the 67 accredited dental schools in the country. It takes about three years to finish dental school, which includes a combination of classroom and hands-on learning. Some dentists may decide to continue their education by earning 1 of 12 specializations recognized by the American Dental Association. It’s worth noting that all dentists are required to complete a certain number of continuing education hours (the amount varies by state) in order to maintain licensure.
